My Journey

My journey began way back when, as it did for all of us. At a very early age, I was all about music. At age 4 I would try to play songs I had heard by ear on the piano. My mother wouldn’t have any of that, so she enrolled me in piano lessons. I was so young the teacher had to teach me the alphabet first.

My course was set for me to be a classical pianist. I took lessons until I was 16 when I, like many teenagers, wanted to play rock-n-roll. I played off and on through my adult life. When I met Larry S. Warfield, my husband of 25 years, who is a guitarist and songwriter, and very good, I might add, I realized I was a classical pianist, not a rock-n-roller. Now, he plays and writes music and I’m more of a publisher. All the training I had in my early years has given me an ear for music that I never could have imagined. Plus, I write and market about music.

If you had visited my website a few months back you would have seen a totally different look, feel, and different blog posts, posts about Life Coaching.

“What’s up with that?” you might ask.

I have 20+ years of experience as a programmer analyst working in a variety of industries, with another 20 years in data entry and systems management, plus some office management thrown in for good behavior.

To be honest, I got tired of working in an office and wanted to do something different, so I went back to school for a degree in Psychology with the intentions of becoming a counselor. At the end of my bachelor’s degree, when preparing for my master’s degree, I knew I didn’t want to be a counselor. I really didn’t have the patience to work with people who didn’t want to change.

Course Correction

My journey redirected my focus towards Human Behavior which could go towards marketing or Life Coaching. At the time, my husband and I owned a marketing company working for different newspapers around the country.

I graduated with a master’s in Human Behavior (Psychology) in 2008 and a master’s in Creative Writing in 2010 and Certification in Life Coaching in 2012.

Totally shaking the idea of coaching or counseling was more difficult than imagined. I coached a few people on a probono basis to assess if I really wanted to go in that direction.

Self-coaching was needed asking questions like:

  • What do you really enjoy doing?
  • Have you enjoyed the Life Coaching that you have done?
  • Would you like to Coach people 40 hours per week?
  • How do you feel when they refuse to do what you suggest or what they agree to?

After much soul-searching, I discovered that I much prefer to write, work on websites, and social media. I approach everything in a very structured manner, so to leave things hanging with clients did not sit well with me. To be honest, a couple of them drove me crazy.

I started studying SEO, Keyword Research, Content Marketing, Social Media Marketing and found I could sit for 10-12 hours and never even notice the time.

Now to answer question one – What do you really enjoy doing?

The product of Self-Coaching:

A couple of hours of coaching and I needed a break!

Working online, writing, working on websites – 10-12 hours no break.

Answer: Writing etc. etc.

Turning The Corner in My Journey

I took a freelance position as a virtual assistant working for a marketer on the West Coast. I hadn’t work in an office, other than my own, for several years. And, I had never worked remote. There were parts of the job that was very challenging, yet, Joe, you helped me discover where I’m supposed to be. Thank you.

I really enjoy writing, in my own voice, not Joe’s, and working online, website design and maintenance, and online marketing.

My husband asked me to design a website and begin marketing his music – I’m ready – where’s the music.

From now on, you will see articles on my website regarding different Psychological issues and Life Coaching issues, plus posts about Online Marketing and offering my services. You’ll find my articles on different sites like Medium and Hubpages, plus wherever else I can find.

My portfolio will also contain screenshots and redirects to websites I have designed.

To my readers, thank you for your patience while I’ve coached myself in the direction of my calling.

BIO

After spending approximately 40 years in office management and as a programmer analyst working in both the private sector and county government plus several years of recovery,  I returned to college earning a Master’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s in  Creative Writing.

Since graduation, I co-owned and managed a direct marketing company, with my husband, working, primarily, with regional news organizations.  I managed the business office, human resources, and helped with training and marketing.  Coaching employees to help them overcome adversity in sales and achieve their desired results became one of my main responsibilities.

I still have a desire is to help others achieve their goals and overcome negative situations in their lives. Using my coaching and self-coaching experience, I develop a self-coaching approach to helping people. Many people have the motivation to change once given the right material

Education

I earned my Master’s Degree in Human Behavior and a Master’s in Creative Writing from National University in San Diego, California.  I have also completed a certification program from AWAI (American Writers & Artists Inc., Delray Beach, FL.) with a focus in copywriting for the web and Certification in Life Coaching.

Writer

I authored a self-help book designed to assist people in changing their negative thoughts and core beliefs. The techniques described in my book were used to help our sales reps to become more successful.  My book is currently for sale on Amazon.com – “Rewrite Your Me-Movie”.
